Covid-19 Procedures for Highbay

  • Scheduling and reservations:
    • Use on-line forms for reserving and gaining access to the Highbay
    • Only one group of 1-3 allowed in lab at a time, with safety-buddy as necessary
    • Work in lab only during reserved and approved time periods on lab calendar
  • Before and after lab use:
    • Students must clean all
      • door handles,
      • equipment,
      • keyboards,
      • tables,
      • chair arms, and
      • other items touched
    • Cleaning supplies are provided in lab, but bring your own mask
    • If supplies are missing, before using lab, contact CSL (300-6315) or lab manager
  • At all times students must:
    • Wear masks (even when working alone)
    • Maintain social distancing (>10ft)
  • Entering the Highbay:
    • Access only through the front outside door (follow signs)
    • Please wait for others to enter/exit door
    • Do not let others into the lab
      • If they should be there, they will have iCard access
    • Check for cleaning supplies prior to starting research work
  • Protocol while in Highbay:
    • One person at a time passing through office area and narrow kitchenette
    • Please wait for others to exit first and then go through while maintaining distancing
    • No use of closed rooms, conference rooms or meeting areas
    • Students should not share working surfaces during lab sessions
    • Students should wash hands or use hand sanitizer before and after lab sessions
  • Use of Smart Electric Vehicle (SmartEV) – Polaris GEMe2:
    • Only one student allowed in SmartEV at a time
      • When under self-driving software control, only trained Safety Driver
      • During software download or troubleshooting, only the programmer
    • All SmartEV experiments conducted in Highbay backlot with windows open
    • When compiled, clean all areas touched during experimentation
  • Please send check-out email (jmhart3), when reserved lab time completed, stating:
    • If use of facility for experimentation was successful
    • That you have cleaned everything you worked with or touched
    • Cleaning supplies are still available and not getting low
  • Thank you for protecting yourself and others!
  • General precautions you can follow to stay safe at home as well.

 

Policy Violation Repercussions:

  • If in CSL buildings without mask you will be asked to leave and return with one
  • Neglect in following cleaning/mask/distancing policies can result in suspension of access
  • Repeated neglect or refusal to follow policies will result in revoking of lab access
